Looking for a city where you can combine a relaxing girls’ afternoon, stunning photos and a party until dawn in a single weekend? Katowice has it all close together: red-brick Nikiszowiec, the modern Culture Zone, elegant concerts and Mariacka Street, lined with bars. That’s why a hen party in Katowice is easy to tailor to both a laid-back group and a party-hard crew.
Below you’ll find 10 tried-and-tested ideas, a sample plan for the night and practical tips – from an afternoon at the spa to an after party in the centre.
How to plan the perfect hen do
Start with three decisions: how many of you are going, what budget per person works for everyone and what kind of vibe you want. A trip for six old university friends looks very different from a party for thirty, including family and colleagues. Book activities for Fridays and Saturdays several weeks in advance.
- A small group – workshops, dinner and the bars on Mariacka Street.
- A big group – an exclusive activity such as a private tram, then a club with a reserved booth.
- A mixed crowd – a relaxed afternoon for everyone and a party part for those who are up for it.
10 ideas for a hen party in Katowice
1. A party on a private tram
A club on wheels where, for two hours, it’s just you and your friends as you ride through the streets of Katowice. With every package you can connect your own playlist, and in the VIP package a DJ takes care of the music. On request we’ll decorate the tram in the colours of your night, and champagne or prosecco can be waiting to welcome the bride-to-be. You’ll find packages and extras on our hen party tram in Katowice page.
2. A photo shoot in Nikiszowiec
Red brick, symmetrical courtyards and atmospheric gateways make a ready-made backdrop for photos in matching outfits. Book a photographer for the hour before sunset, and after the shoot pop into one of the cafés on the estate. It’s hard to find a more photogenic place in Katowice, and you can get here from the centre by bus or taxi.
3. A stroll around the Culture Zone
The modern buildings of Strefa Kultury (the Culture Zone) – the Silesian Museum, NOSPR and the International Congress Centre – are a completely different backdrop from red-brick Nikiszowiec. From the terraces on the Congress Centre’s grassy roof you can see across the city centre, and the viewing tower of the Silesian Museum shows you the city from above. The perfect photo stop before dinner.
4. A concert at NOSPR
If the bride-to-be loves a touch of elegance, start the evening with a concert at the home of NOSPR, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. The hall is famous for its acoustics, and a night out together in evening wear is a great prelude to the rest of the party. Buy tickets in advance.
5. A cocktail workshop
A bartender will show you how to make a few classics and a signature drink in honour of the bride-to-be. In Katowice and the surrounding area you’ll find bars and bartending schools that run classes like this for groups. Everyone gets involved and the results go straight into your glasses – a good, gentler way to start the evening.
6. A dance class
An hour of heels dance, burlesque or Zumba at a dance studio is the perfect warm-up before a night out. The instructor will put together a short routine that you can then show off on the dance floor – or on the tram.
7. A girls’ afternoon at the spa
Massages, a sauna and beauty treatments are a great start to the day, especially when some of the group are travelling from afar. Hotels and spas in Katowice offer packages for groups, but weekend slots fill up quickly, so book ahead.
8. Dinner with a Silesian twist
Dinner together is the time for speeches, presents and games with the bride-to-be. Choose a restaurant serving regional food – beef roulade with dumplings and red cabbage is a must for guests from outside Silesia – or an international restaurant in the centre. With a bigger group, ask for a private room.
9. Karaoke or an escape room
In an escape room you usually have an hour to solve the puzzles together and get out, while at karaoke everyone gets to be the star of the night for a moment. Neither depends on the weather, so they’re worth keeping up your sleeve in case of a rainy afternoon.
10. An after party on Mariacka Street
To finish, head to Mariacka Street, where bars, pubs and clubs stand almost door to door. Our tram rides usually end near this street, so after a few minutes’ walk you’re right at the heart of the nightlife. At weekends, book a table or a booth for the whole group.

Practical tips
- A theme – a sash and veil for the bride-to-be, matching T-shirts or a shared colour scheme look great in photos.
- Where to stay – a hotel or apartment near the Rynek (Market Square) or Mariacka Street saves you hunting for a taxi at night.
- The kitty – the costs are usually shared between the bridesmaids and friends; collect the money upfront and pay from the shared pot during the night.
- Comfortable shoes – for the photo shoot in Nikiszowiec and the walk around the Culture Zone, bring something more comfortable than stilettos.
