A well-organised corporate event in Bydgoszcz can do more for your team than a few communication workshops. A shared adventure, a bit of friendly competition and an evening somewhere out of the ordinary stay in people’s memories for a long time – and give them something to talk about over coffee for weeks.
Bydgoszcz, an important industrial and academic centre of the region, has plenty to offer companies: a historic Old Town on the Brda river, activities on the water and in the forest, and museums with real character. Below you’ll find tried-and-tested team-building ideas, a sample day plan and practical tips.
Where to start planning
Before you choose activities, answer three questions: what is the purpose of the event, how many people will take part and how much time do you have? A reward for the team after closing a project looks different from a meeting with clients, and different again from a full-day team-building event for a department that normally works remotely.
- Team building – go for activities where everyone works together: team games, kayaking, group challenges.
- An event for clients – impact and comfort matter most: an elegant dinner, a show or a ride with a surprise.
- A reward for employees – an evening with music, good food and an attraction people will talk about works well.
Team-building ideas for a corporate event in Bydgoszcz
1. A tram party with your company logo
A private tram with a professional sound system and club lighting is a team-building event like no other. On board, we can arrange a welcome drink, hot, cold or BBQ catering, hostesses and bartenders, team-building games, a live performance or a flair bartending show. On request we’ll also prepare a banner with your company logo on the tram, photo coverage and an HD souvenir video. You’ll find the full offer on our corporate events in Bydgoszcz page.
2. A guided tour of the Exploseum
For teams who enjoy history and technology, the Exploseum is a fascinating option – a museum in the former German explosives factory DAG Fabrik Bromberg, hidden in the forest on the outskirts of the city. The route, around 2 km long, leads through production buildings connected by underground corridors, and the guided tour takes about two hours. It’s a powerful history lesson, and the conversation over lunch afterwards takes care of itself.
3. Kayaking on the Brda
In the warmer months, few things bring a team together like paddling side by side. The Brda is considered one of the most beautiful kayaking routes in Poland, and the stretch from suburban Smukała towards the centre of Bydgoszcz is a popular one-day route. Two-person kayaks force cooperation and communication – exactly what you’re after in team building. Make sure the trip is supervised by the kayak operator and have a plan B in case of bad weather.
4. A city game around the Old Town
Teams armed with a map, tasks and a time limit head out into the streets: Stary Rynek (the Old Market Square), the cathedral, the granaries on Grodzka Street, Wyspa Młyńska (Mill Island) and Wenecja Bydgoska (Bydgoszcz Venice) make ready-made checkpoints. A city game works well for large groups because it combines movement, competition and getting to know the city – and from the last checkpoint it’s an easy walk to dinner in the centre.
5. A workshop at the Soap Museum
The private Muzeum Mydła i Historii Brudu (Museum of Soap and History of Dirt) on Długa Street tells the story of hygiene with humour, from antiquity to the communist era of the Polish People’s Republic, and during the visit every participant makes their own bar of soap. It’s a light-hearted, fun activity for smaller teams and a good break between meetings – for a larger group, book a date in advance.
6. An active day in Myślęcinek
The Leśny Park Kultury i Wypoczynku (Forest Park of Culture and Recreation) in Myślęcinek covers more than 800 hectares of woods and meadows north of the centre. Among other things, it has a paintball field, an amusement park with a rope course and an equestrian centre, and there’s plenty of space around for outdoor games and a picnic. It’s a good option for outdoor team building without leaving the city.
7. A water tram cruise
In season, the small, intimate solar-powered boats of the Bydgoszcz Water Tram (Bydgoski Tramwaj Wodny) cruise the Brda, setting off from Rybi Rynek (the Fish Market). The cruise of about an hour is a relaxed activity for a smaller team or for guests from other cities who want to see Bydgoszcz from the river. Check the timetable and the options for groups before you plan the programme.
8. A performance at Opera Nova
For a meeting with clients or a company anniversary, an evening at Opera Nova – the riverside opera house with its distinctive circular sections – works well. The programme includes opera, operetta, ballet and musicals, and after the show you only need to cross the footbridge to Mill Island and carry on to dinner near the Old Market Square.
Sample team-building day in Bydgoszcz
- 10:00 – meeting at the hotel and a short project summary
- 11:00 – a city game around the Old Town and Mill Island
- 13:30 – lunch near the Old Market Square
- 15:00 – the Exploseum or, in season, kayaking on the Brda
- 19:00 – a private tram from the stop by your hotel: music, catering and team-building games
- 21:00 – dinner or a banquet near the final stop
The tram can pick up your team from the stop closest to the office, hotel or conference venue, and after the ride drop everyone off near the restaurant. A standard ride lasts 2 hours, and every event is priced individually. You’ll find other occasions on our tram parties in Bydgoszcz page.
Practical tips
- Dates – book Fridays in season and the run-up to Christmas well in advance; the tram must be booked at least 5 working days before the event.
- Logistics – choose a start and finish close to your hotel or restaurant, so nobody has to look for transport.
- Plan B – back up outdoor activities with an indoor option in case of rain.
- Rewards – a tram party voucher, valid for 6 months, makes an original gift for top-performing employees.
