The question of where to party in Lodz comes up with every birthday, stag do and work night out – and the answer is very often: in one of the old factories. Many of the city’s most interesting venues are housed in former industrial complexes, where restaurants, bars, stages and clubs are only a few steps apart.
We’ve compared the three best-known addresses – OFF Piotrkowska, Monopolis and Manufaktura – and added a few alternatives. That makes it easier to match the venue to the occasion, the size of your group and the mood.
Where to party in Lodz – the venues compared
1. OFF Piotrkowska – club vibes in a former spinning mill
The former Ramisch spinning mill at Piotrkowska 138/140 is the liveliest party address on Piotrkowska Street. Its courtyard and old factory buildings are full of bars, restaurants, food trucks and clubs playing alternative music, so dinner, drinks and dancing are literally next door to each other. It’s also a good base when not everyone fancies the same thing – some stay at the table while others head off to dance. Best for: groups of friends, stag dos and hen parties, birthday after-parties. Bear in mind: on Fridays and Saturdays it’s best to book a table for your group.
2. Monopolis – a classy dinner and a stage
The former Monopol Vodka Factory on Kopcińskiego Street is the address for an evening that should start in style. Its restored buildings house restaurants and an art gallery, while Scena Monopolis (the Monopolis Stage) hosts concerts and shows. Best for: milestone birthdays, company dinners and smaller gatherings. Bear in mind: Piotrkowska Street is roughly 2 km away, so getting to the after-party means a short ride. We say more about both factory venues in our article on birthday parties in Lodz.
3. Manufaktura – everything in one place
The former Poznański factory complex brings together restaurants, a cinema, museums and a huge market square, which in summer fills up with beer gardens, an artificial beach and open-air concerts. It’s an easy place to bring a mixed crowd together – from parents to workmates – and plac Wolności (Liberty Square) is less than 20 minutes’ walk away. During the day you can also visit the Muzeum Fabryki (Factory Museum) or the ms2 art museum. Best for: bigger mixed groups and summer evenings. Bear in mind: the atmosphere is more family-friendly than clubby.
4. The Piotrkowska promenade – made for a pub crawl
The northern stretch of Piotrkowska Street, from plac Wolności to Piłsudskiego Avenue, is lined with venues in restored tenement buildings: pubs, cocktail bars, restaurants and cafés. There’s no need to spend the whole night in one place – just move on from bar to bar. Best for: friends who like a change of scene. Bear in mind: without a booking, it’s hard for a big group to sit together.
5. EC1 – a calmer start to the evening
If you’d like to see something out of the ordinary before the party, head to EC1, the former power station next to Lodz Fabryczna station. It’s home to a planetarium and cinema halls, and a show on the spherical screen makes an unusual prelude to dinner. Best for: groups who want to mix culture with fun. Bear in mind: this isn’t a place for the whole night – after the show you’ll need to move on.
6. A private tram – the party that moves with you
You don’t have to choose just one address. A private tram picks you up from a stop near your dinner venue and spends two hours taking you around the city with music and club lighting – for example near Manufaktura, along Kościuszki Avenue and past EC1. We usually end the ride in the centre, near Piotrkowska Street, so you can step off the tram and walk straight to the after-party. Best for: groups celebrating a big occasion who want something all to themselves. You’ll find the details on our TramParty Lodz page.
Which venue should you choose? A quick cheat sheet
- Stag do or hen party – the tram to warm up, then OFF Piotrkowska.
- Milestone birthday – dinner at Monopolis, a tram ride and an after-party on Piotrkowska. We describe the packages on our birthday tram party in Lodz page.
- Work night out – dinner at Monopolis or Manufaktura, followed by a corporate tram party with catering.
- Mixed group – Manufaktura, especially in summer.
- Spontaneous night out with friends – the Piotrkowska promenade and a round of the pubs.
A sample evening in Lodz
- 18:00 – a planetarium show at EC1 or a stroll around Manufaktura,
- 19:30 – dinner at Monopolis,
- 21:30 – two hours on a private tram, starting from a stop near the restaurant,
- 23:30 – an after-party at OFF Piotrkowska or in the bars along the promenade.
This plan shows you several different sides of Lodz in a single evening, and thanks to the tram nobody has to worry about getting from one district to another.
Practical tips
- Distances – Manufaktura, OFF Piotrkowska and Monopolis are between 2 and more than 3 km apart. Plan how you’ll get between them rather than counting on a walk at midnight.
- Order – have dinner further from the centre and save the party for Piotrkowska Street and OFF Piotrkowska, from where it’s easiest to get back to your hotel.
- Bookings – if there are more than a few of you, book a table at your first venue, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
- What’s on – if you’d like to catch a concert at Scena Monopolis or a planetarium show, check the programme and times before you go.
