Planning a stag do in Poznan and want the groom-to-be to remember it for longer than until Monday? Good news: the city has everything you need – a compact centre around Stary Rynek (the Old Market Square), loads of pubs, adrenaline-fuelled activities and a few genuinely unusual ideas.
We’ve rounded up 10 tried-and-tested ideas, a sample plan for the night and practical tips for the best man and the rest of the crew. Pick two or three highlights and tailor them to your group.
Where to start planning
First, agree on the number of people, the budget per person and whether you’re celebrating for one night or a whole weekend. There’s only one thing worth asking the groom-to-be: what he definitely doesn’t want. Keep the rest a surprise – but a well-thought-out one, because the best stag dos are the ones after which everyone wants to get together again. With a bigger group, put one person in charge of bookings and another in charge of the schedule.
10 ideas for a stag do in Poznan
1. A party tram just for your crew
A vintage tram playing your playlist, with flashing lights and lasers and Poznan by night sliding past the windows. The ride can start from almost any stop and lasts two hours. The Star and VIP packages include a red carpet entrance, a cooler with ice and the option to bring your own alcohol, while VIP adds a DJ, a bartender and a dedicated party host. You’ll find all the packages on our stag do tram in Poznan page.
2. A shooting range
A stag do classic. At a sports shooting range, under an instructor’s supervision, you can try out several types of firearm and finish with a tournament for the title of best shot in the crew. One rule: you shoot before the first beer, not after it.
3. Go-karting
An indoor go-kart track runs whatever the weather. A few qualifying laps, a grand final and a podium with champagne make a great warm-up for the evening – and give you something to wind each other up about until morning.
4. A Lech match on Bułgarska Street
If the dates line up, check Lech Poznan’s fixture list. Cheering from the stands of the stadium on Bułgarska Street brings the kind of buzz that gets the rest of the night going, and the club scarves look great in the group photos afterwards. If there’s no match that weekend, you’ll easily find a pub in the centre showing live sport.
5. A pub crawl around the Old Market Square
The streets around the Old Market Square are Poznan’s liveliest party area: pubs, craft beer bars, cocktail bars and clubs in the cellars of old tenement houses. Plan a route through several places and book a table for the whole crew at the first one in advance. If you’d rather not think about the route, we can provide a party host to take you round the pubs.
6. A grodziskie beer tasting
Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) has its own historic beer style: grodziskie, a light, smoked wheat beer from the town of Grodzisk Wielkopolski. Look for it in the multi-tap bars in the centre and hold a comparative tasting with other local beers. It’s a good idea for a more relaxed start to the night.
7. An escape room
An hour of puzzles against the clock shows who in the crew thinks fastest – and who shouts out the most hints. Poznan has plenty of escape rooms, including horror-themed ones and scenarios for bigger groups, so it’s easy to set up a contest between two teams.
8. Dinner with a regional twist
Before a night out you need a solid base. Steaks and burgers always go down well, but it’s worth trying the Wielkopolska classics too: duck with kluski na parze (steamed dumplings) and modra kapusta (red cabbage), or pyry z gzikiem – potatoes with quark and chives. For a bigger group, book a room or a long table near the Old Market Square.
9. Costumes and challenges for the groom
A chicken costume, printed T-shirts for the whole crew or a list of challenges to complete during the night – it’s details like these that keep stag do photos doing the rounds for years. Costumes are very welcome on the tram, and on request we’ll decorate the carriage to match the theme of the night.
10. Recovery at Termy Maltańskie
If the stag do lasts all weekend, start day two gently – in the pools fed with thermal water at Termy Maltańskie (Malta Thermal Baths), by Jezioro Maltańskie (Lake Malta). In the afternoon, anyone who’s up for it can ride the toboggan run on the other side of the lake or play a round of minigolf.
Sample stag do plan in Poznan
- 15:00 – a shooting range or go-karts
- 17:30 – dinner near the Old Market Square
- 19:30 – a party tram ride with your playlist and lasers
- 21:30 – a pub crawl around the Old Market Square
- Midnight – a club until the early hours
- The next day – the thermal pools at Malta and a late lunch
The tram must be booked at least 5 working days before the party, but for weekends it’s worth getting in touch earlier – that’s when you’ll have the widest choice of dates.
Practical tips
- Budget – the whole crew usually chips in, and the groom doesn’t pay for anything. Collect the money up front, before the bills start arriving.
- Accommodation – choose a hotel or apartment near the Old Market Square so you can walk back after the party.
- Limits – agree together on what’s funny and what’s going too far. The challenges should be fun for the groom too.
- Logistics – on request, we can also help with booking accommodation and transport, and even with car hire in Poznan.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need 30 people for a stag do on a tram?
No. Package prices apply to groups of at least 30 people, but smaller crews are welcome too – tell us in your enquiry how many of you there will be and we’ll price the party individually.
Can we bring our own alcohol and music on the tram?
You can connect your own playlist with every package, and in the VIP package a DJ with equipment takes care of the music. You can bring your own alcohol with the Star and VIP packages – a cooler with ice, cups and glasses awaits you on board.
Where can we carry on after the tram ride?
We usually agree the final stop in the centre, for example near the Old Market Square. From there it’s a few minutes’ walk to the pubs and clubs, so the party carries on without any need to find transport. We’ll go through the route details when you book – see also all tram parties in Poznan.
