Red brick, factory chimneys and the courtyards of old spinning mills that are now home to bars and clubs – that’s Lodz after dark. If you’re planning a stag do in Lodz, this industrial atmosphere is your biggest asset: instead of yet another anonymous club, you can party in places with more than a century of history.
Below you’ll find 8 stag do ideas with character, a sample plan for the night and practical tips for the organiser – usually the best man, who has everything on his plate.
How to plan a stag do in Lodz
Start with three decisions: how many of you are going, what the budget per head is, and whether the party ends at dawn or includes an overnight stay and a second day. The key spots – Piotrkowska Street, OFF Piotrkowska and Manufaktura – are within walking distance or a short tram ride of each other, so you can plan most of the night without ferrying the group around by taxi. If some of the lads are arriving by train, arrange to meet in the centre, near Lodz Fabryczna station. And ask the groom-to-be just one thing: what he definitely doesn’t want. You can keep the rest of the programme a secret.
8 stag do ideas with an industrial edge
1. A private tram as a club on wheels
Instead of moving from venue to venue, board a tram that’s all yours for two hours. Music plays on board – your own playlist or a DJ – and the Star and VIP packages add lights, effects and lasers, a red carpet entrance and a cooler with ice. With VIP you also get a party host, a bartender or hostess and photo coverage on board. You can add catering, an HD souvenir video or a live performance to any package. We describe all the packages on our stag do tram party in Lodz page.
2. Dinner and a beer at OFF Piotrkowska
The former Ramisch spinning mill at Piotrkowska 138/140 was in operation until 1990, and its brick courtyard is now packed with restaurants, bars, food trucks and clubs playing alternative music. It’s a great base for a stag do: there’s something for everyone, and moving from burgers to beer and from beer to the dance floor takes just a few steps.
3. Monopolis – dinner in a former vodka factory
It’s hard to think of a more fitting backdrop for a stag do than the brick walls of the former Monopol Vodka Factory on Kopcińskiego Street. In the restored buildings you can have dinner at one of the restaurants, while Scena Monopolis (the Monopolis Stage) hosts concerts and shows – check the programme, as there may be something to get you warmed up.
4. A shooting range, paintball or laser tag
The classics of the lads’ weekend away work in Lodz too. At a sports shooting range you can try out different types of firearms under an instructor’s supervision, while paintball or laser tag is a team contest that will give you plenty to talk about over dinner. Book ahead and make sure the venue takes groups of your size.
5. A walk around industrial Lodz
If you’re starting in the afternoon, take a stroll around Księży Młyn – the estate Karol Scheibler built around a spinning mill more than 200 metres long. The brick workers’ houses and the old factory make a perfect backdrop for photos of the crew in matching T-shirts. Alternatively, head to Manufaktura, where the Muzeum Fabryki (Factory Museum) shows what work was like in the Poznański empire.
6. A pub crawl with a party host
Don’t know Lodz? You can hire a guide and party host from us to show you around the city – to the pubs, bowling, billiards or wherever the group fancies. That way the organiser doesn’t have to keep an eye on the map and the bookings, and can party with everyone else.
7. A Widzew or ŁKS match
Lodz has two clubs with a long football tradition, and cheering from the stands can get the crew going better than many a toast. If the stag do falls on a match day, buy tickets for everyone in advance and plan the rest of the evening for after the final whistle.
8. An after-party on Piotrkowska
The best way to end the night is on and around Piotrkowska Street, where the venues stand one after another. With a big group, book a table or a booth at a club, because at weekends getting in without a booking can be tricky. If you like, we’ll help you choose and book a club for the after-party.
